President Muhammadu Buhari has written a letter to the Senate and House of Representatives seeking confirmation of the service chiefs’ appointment.
President writes NASS for approval of service chiefs’ appointment
Buhari appointed the service chiefs on Monday, July 13, 2015, while the National Assembly was on recess.

The two chambers confirmed receipt of Buhari’s letter upon resumption on Tuesday, July 28.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, read the letter at plenary while House of Reps Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, appointed a committee to screen the service chiefs.
The service chiefs are Chief of Defence Staff, Maj-Gen. Abayomi Olonishakin; Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Adm. Ibok-Ete Ibas, and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice-Marshal Sadique Abubakar.
