Jibrin berates Buhari, vows never to return to Nigeria unless...

Jibrin said he recently wrote to brief President Buhari about "monumental fraud" in the 2016 budget.

What's new is the fact that Abdulmumin Jibrin, the Kano state lawmaker who accused Speaker Yakubu Dogara and other members of the Green Chambers of "padding" the budget has departed Nigeria.

In an interview with Ben TV London on Monday, November 7, 2016, Jibrin said he decided to leave Nigeria for security reasons.

The lawmaker alleged that he has received several threats from his colleagues who he accused of corruption.

Jibrin who expressed displeasure over President Muhammadu Buhari's silence on the budget padding scandal added that he would not return to Nigeria unless his safety is guaranteed.

"The situation currently at hand is different from the initial stage of the crisis. The silence of the presidency is no longer sending the right message to Nigerians and the international community," he said.

Jibrin also revealed that he recently wrote to President Buhari, seeking an audience to brief him about "monumental fraud" in the 2016 budget, individual and systemic corruption in the House and some vital information on how to check the practice.

According to Jibrin, over 2,000 fraudulent projects worth over N284 billion were inserted into 2016 budget, adding that such fraud has never happened in the history of the Nigerian legislature.

Jibrin, however, exonerated himself of any wrongdoing in the appropriation process.
