'We're tired of fighting' - terror group confesses

Anas noted that the sect is not asking for money as a condition to lay down their arms.

Terror group, Boko Haram has indicated its intention to ceasefire, saying its members are tired of fighting.

This was revealed by Air Commodore Yusuf Anas, the Executive Secretary of the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), the group standing as mediator between the government and the sect.

Anas told Channels TV in an interview that Boko Haram made the confession in a message it sent to him. He said “they are tired of fighting and are ready for a quick deal to end the war.”

He noted that the sect is not asking for money as a condition to lay down their arms, all they ask, he said, is for the government to be genuinely committed to the ongoing negotiations.

While commending the Federal Government for embracing dialogue, Anas claimed that in August 2015, some members of the terror group had come to the CCC to assist them facilitating negotiations between them and the government.

However, President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, September 15, confirmed that the government is in negotiation with the militant group, ultimately to free the 200 kidnapped Chibok girls, who were abducted from their school’s dormitory in the north-eastern Borno State on April 14.
