Trump queries U.S. for spending funds to battle terrorists

The financial support the Nigerian and other African governments are getting from the U.S to fight Boko Haram might soon be terminated.

President-elect Donald Trump.

In a recent report by New York Times, Trump queried why all of the schoolgirls kidnapped by the group have not been totally rescued and whether Qaeda operatives from Africa are living in the United States.

In an unclassified document made available to New York Times, Trump had asked “How does U.S. business compete with other nations in Africa? Are we losing out to the Chinese?”

Continuing, the elected president reportedly asked if the funds provided by the U.S. government weren't stolen with so much corruption in Nigeria.

“With so much corruption in Africa, how much of our funding is stolen? Why should we spend these funds on Africa when we are suffering here in the U.S.?"

He went further questioned the effectiveness of one of the more significant counterterrorism efforts on the continent.

“We’ve been fighting al-Shabaab for a decade, why haven’t we won?”

With the recent stand, it is obvious the African presidents won't be having it so easy with the elected president set for swearing-in barely four days.
