Army says journalist yet to be arrested

The Nigerian army has denied reports that journalist, Ahmed Salkidais was arrested by the army, saying he's yet to be taken into custody.

Defence Headquarters spokesman, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar reportedly told Daily Trust that the military has no knowledge of Salkida’s arrest neither has it apprehended the journalist as at the time of filing the report on Monday, September 5, 2016.

On Monday night, Sahara Reporters had reported that Salkida was arrested after alighting from an Emirates Flight EK785 aircraft that landed in Abuja.

Meanwhile the journalist has repeatedly said he was not on the run and would make himself available to the security forces as soon as he was able to get flight ticket to Nigeria.
