Listen to telephone conversation between group's leader & Iranian Official

The group's leader explained how the Nigerian army killed dozens of shiite protesters before descending on his residence where he hid.

 

Following the December 12 killing of members of Islamic group, Shiite, in Zaria, Kaduna State by the Nigerian Army, SaharaReporters has obtained a telephone conversation between an Iranian official and the group's leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.

The group's leader explained how the Nigerian army allegedly killed dozens of shiite protesters before descending on his residence.

Zakzaky, who was later arrested by the army, disclosed that the shooting at his residence, where he took refuge, went on through out the night as the soldiers shot dead anything in sight.

Pulse recalls that the international community - in separate statements, the United States, the United Kingdomand Amnesty International have called for the urgent investigation into the killings, cautioning that the probe must be transparent.

The death toll in the violence has not been ascertained, but the group claims over 500 of its members were massacred.
