NNPC puts amount spent on petrol in 2014 at N1.7trn

The consumption of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), in the year 2014, has been put at N1.7 trillion by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Fuel consumption in Nigeria keeps rising

According to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Nigerians bought a total sum of N1.7 trillion worth of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, in 2014, according to data obtained released by the body.

In its 2014 Annual Statistical Bulletin, the NNPC disclosed that 17.4 billion litres of PMS was distributed in the period under review, translating to an average daily consumption of PMS at 47.67 million litres.

Using the 2014 fuel price of N97 per litre, Nigerians would have spent N1.7 trillion on the consumption of 17.4 billion litres of PMS in the period under review.
