Finding jobs online can be very easy

Put away all your old school habits of finding an interesting vacancy. Finding a new job on the Internet has never been easier and faster! And the best thing is: for job seekers, it’s usually for free.

Searching for jobs online has been made easier.

Specific Job Sites: These sites show job vacancies in real time. Everyone looking for an employee can post a an offer, which usually includes information about the company, a job description, and the salary. Job seekers on the other hand have the possibility to submit their CV or set job alerts based on field and job title so that daily emails of available jobs on the site would be sent to the person’s email.

Online Community/Forum: These are platforms where people publish posts, comments, and have discussions on varieties of fields like politics, education, entertainment, job vacancies, etc. This way of interaction with other users (which is not possible on job sites) makes it a very efficient tool to find job postings online as many companies have identified those sites as a source to find the right personal.

Social Media Connection: Sites like LinkedIn and others are very useful tools, because one can connect with other people and especially looking for the ones with an HR job status. By connecting you allow those people to view your profile, which should look very professional and complete in order to receive appropriate job offers from them. Most headhunters use LinkedIn to find future employees for their clients.

Cold Emailing: This is like cold calling in marketing, which entails sending one’s job application and CV to someone or company one have not met before with the hope of getting hired. The success rate of cold emailing is very low so it must be done tactfully and creatively to get the required attention.

Email Alert: one can create a job email alert on Google using one’s job status, industry and other criteria. For instance, an Insurance graduate’s job email alert will look something like this: ‘Insurance Underwriting/Marketing job in Nigeria.’ With this, links to every job vacancy uploaded on the Internet with those key words will be sent directly into the person’s email box immediately they are uploaded.

Online job search requires time, commitment, persistence, focus and tact. Combining all five points will yield the required result faster than just using one or two.
