'Avoid road crashes by taking care of your tyres' -Agency advises

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) is urging Nigerians to take care of their car tyres.

Worn out tires

Bisi Kazeem, the Head Media Relations and Strategy for FRSC, says doing this will prevent tyre bursts and road crashes.

Kazeem called on drivers to avoid substandard tyres as the wear out quickly.

He also advised vehicle owners to ensure that their tyres are always properly fixed, with all the knots tightly fitted and intact.

"Some tyres are expired, some are substandard products, some are under-inflated, some are over-inflated, and some have been handled wrongly by vulcanizers”, he said.

In recent times, tyre bursts have led to a lot of accidents, including the death of the former Minister of state for Labor and Employment, James Ocholi, his wife and son.

The Ocholis were involved in a fatal Road Traffic Crash (RTC) on March 6th.
