NSE, DMO, Stanbic stockbrokers to hold forum

The workshop is being held as part of the NSE's move to improve the capacity of its members and increase investor participation in bonds

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in collaboration with the Debt Management Office (DMO) and Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited (SISL)  are organizing a Fixed Income Workshop on Saturday., March 5, at the NSE building.

The workshop is being held as part of the NSE's move to improve the capacity of its members and increase investor participation in bonds, according to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek report.

The workshop is themed "Auctions, Trading and Settlement of Debt Instruments in Nigeria", and will bring together about 200 stockbrokers, regulator and other key capital market stakeholders to discuss technical and factual information on the bond's market.

“The Fixed Income Workshop is one of the broker education initiatives of the NSE aimed at empowering Dealing Members with the necessary tools to aid their client’s investment decision making process. This workshop is designed to enhance brokers’ understanding of the basics of investing, trading and valuation of debt instruments. The workshop will also involve trading simulations which explores the impact of economic indicators on fixed income trading and investment decisions,” said Mr. Haruna Jalo-Waziri, Executive Director at the Capital Markets Division of the NSE.

Experienced facilitators will moderate discussions on the FGN bond auction process, methodology and settlement, and also speak on the fundamentals of bond instruments, valuation and portfolio application.
