Partnership and involvement is the keyword, says the House of Tara CEO.
Women are usually caught between trying to maintain a healthy romantic relationship with their husbands, to be wonderful moms to their lovely kids, while at the same time trying to climb to the top of their career ladder and stay relevant as a force to reckon with in their chosen professions.
How do you achieve success on both fronts? Tara Fela-Durotoye has just the perfect tip for you.
In a one-on-one session with Pulse, the founder and CEO of House of Tara says the simple secret to achieving this is for women to get their partners heavily involved in their career and life journey.
“It is important for you to marry someone who buys into what you are doing,” she says.
The moment partners [both men and women] decide to do things on their own, they start to get it wrong.
Tara says people in marriages and relationships need to ensure that their partners are part of any process they are going through.
Whether it’s a business or a job interview, involving your partner will make him/her feel like part of any success that comes out of it; and this will in turn have a positive effect on both your relationship and your career.
She says, “It’s almost as if two of you are partners, and when you are partners, one of you is like ‘OK, since you are not available, let me do it’
In essence, getting your significant other involved in every step you take and every move you make, just as partners do in a business partnership, will give them a sense of belonging to that vision, and when this happens, they’ll be willing to help you and bear some of the burden that’d normally prove overwhelming for you.
