What counts as cheating & what should not

At the same time, in relating with people of the opposite sex, it is often the case that people toe the lines of what is acceptable of people in relationships and what is not.

Partners are usually conflicted on what should be done with members of the opposite sex, and what shouldn't be.

For example; a boyfriend could feel there is no big deal in mild flirting with other babes, whereas his girl sees no reason why he should be flirting at all.

To her, it is disrespectful and might just as well be regarded as cheating.

In another instance, a babe might see no reason why she can't make a meal for a neighbour and serve it to him; and her boyfriend will lose his mind at that.

To him, if she's cooking for another guy and serving him, there isn't much left to do before the other guy attains the same special status that he, the boyfriend, occupies in his woman's life.

That feeling of betrayal and jealousy people feel at that stage is controlled by emotions and not logic but nonetheless there are things that you should freak out over.

Below are few things that you be secure enough to allow your partner do without getting yourself worked up:

1. Conversations with other people of the opposite sex.

2. Chatting and picking phone calls at ‘appropriate’ times

3. Going out by themselves or with friends. Guys especially need to stop policing their partners 24/7.

4. Liking pictures on social media. Some women actually freak out when a husband/boyfriend likes another woman’s pictures regularly.

Calm down ladies. The pictures were fine and it took just a double tap of his screen to like the picture.

It wasn’t like he was caught tapping her ass, right?

-- Having said that, there are also things that you’d be right to become worried and suspicious over.

While everyone might not agree on the same things, the list below contains what many will comfortably categorise as blatant cheating:

1. Flirting with others.

2. Engage in sexual talk with someone else.

3. Late night chats, DM’s and frequent nightly calls.

4. Deny being married or in a relationship.

5. Sleeping in the same bed with someone of the opposite sex.

6. Purchase intimate gifts - Lingerie, panties, sex toys, etc.

7. Sex.

8. Develop a crush or feelings for another individual.

9. Sharing your most private thoughts and feelings with someone else.

10. Having a bestie of the opposite sex.

As it has been said above, partners sometimes get conflicted on some of these things as some persons might see no problem with some things that others would not tolerate in their relationships.

The best thing to do in this situation is to communicate with your partner and reach a compromise on what will be acceptable and what won't in that relationship.
