Breakups are ideal in teaching you what not to do again...

Here are three things you'll learn which will help in your subsequent relationships.

1. You’re stronger than you think

The days immediately after a terrible breakup will feel as gloomy as hell and you just might get all sorts of terrible thoughts and go through the craziest motions but in the end, what is clearest in times like this is the strength and fortitude to move on.

It's usually not as easy or as quick as you might like, but with time and positive attempts, you can move on from that bad breakup.

And you really should.

2. Review your expectations

Some people gel on some deeper level in little or no time, but that is more exception than the norm.

If the relationship ended because you expected too much within a very short space of time, and you realise the relationship never truly settled due to the pressure of those demands,  the period after a breakup is usually ideal to ask yourself questions and review those expectations.

3. You're not as perfect as you think

When a relationship ends, you realize that maybe things would have been different if you had acted differently.

Having time to replay the sequence of events in detail might show your own role in what became of the relationship.

While you might want to lay fault at the feet of that ex [and rightly so], you might however realize that you were not completely faultless for what the bad end the relationship got.

Realising and working on these imperfections could make you

sometimes you played a part in what happened and it helps you learn and get better for subsequent  relationships.
