Why it's important to have honest expectations while dating

The need is strong to be with someone, to have someone to all your own, someone to snuggle up to on cold nights, to kiss goodnight, have long and deep conversations with... and all other sweet things people do in relationships.
But this need pales when compared to the need to be with someone who actually treats you right and meets all the great traits you expect to find in a partner before giving up your heart to them.
And that is where the problem arises as there seems to be a shortage of people who can meet up to these expectations, even though they are fair and pretty realistic.
