Girl, 9, authors book on effects Boko Haram's terror

A 9-year-old in Abuja has presented a book she authored on the effects of terrorism on child to the Defence Headquarters

Splendour Joe Abisoye, 9, of Unique Blossom School, Maitama, has presented to the Defence Headquarters a copy of her book titled “Effects of Terrorism on Children”.

The young author was accompanied by her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Joe King Abisoye, to the Defence headquarters.

The book was based on her experience at an IDP camp she visited in terror-ravaged Northeast Nigeria. It was drawn from the things the children in the camps told her.

Speaking on how debased their minds have become, Splendour said many of them preferred to join Boko Haram group to ensure their protection. This further motivated her to write with knowledge that these terrorists were once children and only proper education could guarantee a society free of terror.

She sought to use the Defence Headquarters as a platform to reach out to other stakeholders in the fight against terrorism in the distribution of her books and to send them to all IDP camps, Almajiri schools and all military schools in Nigeria.

Receiving the book, General Olukolade applauded her for writing it.

Speaking on the book, the army spokesman said, ”This is the type of encouragement we should give to our children. We will continue to encourage you and others that have this same talent. If you keep it up, you will be one of the greatest authors in the world.”
