Why Do Women Lug Giant Bags Around?

Lugging multiple bags has become a trend among women...is this a fashion fad or there's more to it?

On my way to the office today, I saw several ladies struggling with two bags, obviously on their way to the office – so I took out my camera and discreetly took a picture (the one above).

Yes, I know, as a guy, some ladies my say ‘na wetin consign you?’ but I am sure that many bros like me would be itching to know why they go through all the trouble.

Well, I went searching for answers on the Social Media: Yahoo, Facebook and Twitter...

“I assume they are carrying their dresser in it Kukogho. I carry a mailman's bag so I don't understand big purses either,” , a middle aged woman said.

@Elemdeeowho carries two bags and 4 purses says "it is because we have a lot to carry. I have spare shoes, my documents make up and other stuff"

I am sure most girls would support @elgeotaofeeq who wrote: “those bags contain 'make up materials' that make them comfortable outside. The bags are 'home away from home'."

A guy, Shittu Fowora, provides a rather hilarious but plausible answer.

“Women on the move, they may have many options. Like Friday: working in Lagos, Saturday: a sleep-over in Ogun and Sunday: church service in Abeoukuta, only to return for work before Monday,” Shittu says.

"Some nursing mothers carry it for the purpose of keeping a child most useful things, while 'runs girls' use it to keep extra cloth,” wrote on twitter.

But we all know how many of those bag-lugging women actually have children. Wink!

Another dude, James Ademuyiwa Jamesconco wrote, “Dem go just dey carry big bags like say na inside Molue their rooms dey.”
