Emeka loves his sister so much as is often tempted to take matters into his hands and deal with the situation but his parents believe he should not interfere in a matter that should be resolved by the parties involved.
"My name is Emeka, a 28-year-old businessman based in Lagos. I am the third child in a family of five with an only sister, Nmesoma.
She is my immediate older sibling and by virtue of this, we are very close. Nmesoma has always been very fragile but by far the most loyal and committed person I have ever met in my life.
While growing up, I was more like her boyfriend because I was always on the lookout for her and made sure she was free from bullies who took advantage of her gentle nature to maltreat her.
In fact, my family felt I was too protective of her and that I should give her some room to grow up but the bond between us has been so strong, even till now.
But I am not happy that her husband, Uche, has turned her into a punching bag even after two lovely children.
They also live in Lagos but I hardly go to their house because I fear I could kill her husband. The last time I went there, I saw my sister with a black eye and bruises on her face but when I questioned her, she told me she fell down, which I knew was a lie.
Uche beats my sister almost on a daily basis but if I want to intervene, my family would tell me I should not interfere in a family matter.
There was a time I told him I would get him arrested the next time he touches my sister but the next day, my mother called me and warned me never to get involved in the issue.
My sister too is not helping matters as she has refused to leave the brute of a man and instead lies and shield him always.
I am worried for her as Uche could end up killing her.
Emeka."
The teaser for the day was:
How Nigeria voted:
I would get him arrested - 31%
I will beat him up myself - 14%
I will make sure my sister leaves him - 36%
I will not interfere as it is not my business - 19%
