The incident, according to Daily trust, happened in Zuma village, Maddalla area of the state after Yahaya, a labourer, sneaked into the farm of one Luka Musa and harvested the yams before luck ran out on him and he was arrested by the local vigilante.

A member of the vigilante in the area said the suspect was arrested early in the morning after he went into the Musa's and stole the yams.
The vigilante member said the suspect went to the farm with an empty sack to carry the yams but a hunter who was returning home, saw him with the yam tubers and became suspicious.
“The suspect harvested 12 tubers of yam which he put in a sack and was about taking them away when a hunter who knew the farmer saw him and came home and informed him of what he saw on his farm.
The suspect confessed to stealing the yam but pleaded with the farmer that it was hardship that made him harvest some tubers of yam from the farm.”

The vigilante said the suspect who resides at the community, was later pardoned after he narrated his ordeal when some elders of the community waded into the matter.
