Man arraigned for burning 4-yr-old daughter with electric heater

A man has been arraigned before a court for assaulting his daughter with a hot electric heater.

The accused, Benjamin Endurance reportedly assaulted the young child, Goodness Endurance for bed wetting, Leadership reports.

According to the reports, the incident took place on October 13 at about 11pm at their home along the Prosco Road in Okaka area of Yenagoa local government area of the state.

Leadership reports that the case was filed with the police by the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).

Endurance was arraigned on a three-count charge of alleged criminal intent, denial of the victim of proper health care and attempt to breach of peace.

The prosecuting counsel, Inspector Joses Totekume, accused Endurance, saying that, “that he did willfully injure his daughter, Goodness Endurance by using a hot electric heater on her legs, after she urinated on the floor, where she slept and thereby committing an offense punishable under Section 282 Cap.14 of the criminal code laws of Bayelsa State of Nigeria, 2006.”

The accused in currently in police custody and is yet to receive sentencing.
