Soldiers brutalize pastor for refusing to do frog jump
A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God is currently battling for his life after soldiers brutalized him for refusing to do frog jump.
Total Media reports that Pastor Ochienu, a Civil Engineer who is on admission at the Gwarimpa General Hospital in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, was supervising construction works at the Paradise Estate, Life Camp in the city, when the soldiers invaded the site with officials of the Abuja Development Control Department (ADCC), and assaulted him and other workers at the site.
Narrating his ordeal, Pastor Ochienu said the two soldiers and the ADCC officials stormed the building site on January 17, 2017, and assaulted him because he refused to do a frog jump they ordered him to do as he did not know his offence.
The victim alleged that the soldiers led by one Cpl. M. Dankwa and another colleague whose name he did not know, brutalized him so much that he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where he was admitted to the emergency ward.
He disclosed further that the soldiers beat him with rifle butts and kicked him in the stomach simply because he told them he could not obey their order to do frog jumps as he was fasting.
“The soldiers rushed into the site and ordered everyone to frog-jump; they flogged the workers and threatened to shoot us. I tried to explain to them that I was weak because I was fasting, but Cpl. Dankwa was infuriated by my explanation.
He kicked me in the stomach; another soldier also joined in beating me till I collapsed. When they saw that I was almost lifeless, they left and I was rushed to the hospital by the workers.”
Pastor Ochienu has vowed to take legal action against the Development Control Department and the military for the assault.
