From "Papa Ajasco" to "Checkmate," see what shows Pulse readers think are the best TV series of the 80s and 90s.

While some of these shows still aired in the 2000s, they began and are deeply rooted in the 80s and 90s.

1. "Checkmate"

20% of Pulse Nigeria readers chose Amaka Igwe's "Checkmate" as their favourite classic.

The series ran in the late 1980s through the early 1990s and featured Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ego Boyo, Francis Agu, Bob-Manuel Udokwo among others.

2. "Mirror in the Sun"

13.1% of our readers enjoyed watching the series aired on the Nigerian Television Authority network service every Sunday from January 1984 to January 1986.

3. "Papa Ajasco and Company"

13.1% of our readers had so much fun watching Papa Ajasco, Mama Ajasco, Bobo Ajasco, Boy Alinco, Miss Pepeiye, Pa James and Pa Jimoh in the sitcom which was created in 1996.

4. "New Masquerade"

10.3% of our readers had fun tunning to Nigerian Television Network on Monday nights during the 1980s.

The series which started as a radio programme known as The Masquerade, stared Chika Okpala, Lizzy Evoeme, Cladius Eke and John Iroha.

5. "The Village Headmaster"

8.6% of Pulse Nigeria readers obviously enjoyed watching Justus Esiri and Femi Robinson in the drama series which began in 1968 and ran until 1988.
