The upcoming season which will star Claire Danes, Rupert Friend, F. Murray Abraham and Mandy Patinkin, will be set in the US after a presidential election.

Taking place several months after the previous season, Carrie is back in the United States, living in Brooklyn, New York.

She is now working at a foundation whose efforts are to provide aid to Muslims living in the United States. The season features a presidential election, and takes place between election day and inauguration day.

On Thursday, August 11, 2016, during the Television Critics Association panel session, executive producer, Alex Gansa, teased the fate of Quinn who appeared to die in the final scenes of season five. According to Gansa, Quinn is alive but altered.

On the series coming to an end, Gansa said, “We asked ourselves how many years can we keep this going and keep the quality up? We said seven or eight seasons sounded about right."

The show which has won eight Emmy Awards and five Golden Globes since its debut in 2011, has already been renewed for two more seasons.
