Prequel crosses $500M at box office

Two weekends after its release, Warner Bros. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" has crossed $500M at the global box office.

According to Warner Bros. Pictures, the new J.K Rowling franchise surpassed half a billion dollars at the global box office on Tuesday, November 29, after its second weekend since release.

The magical adventure has grossed $161 million domestically and $344 million internationally for a global box total of $505 million so far.

A fantasy drama film inspired by J. K. Rowling's book of same name, and a spin-off of the Harry Potter film series, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them"stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander.

The film is produced by David Heyman, who produced all eight of "Harry Potter" films. Others on the producers list include J.K Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.
