Joan Rivers Could Suffer Permanent Brain Damage After Coma

Her daughter, Melissa Rivers announced on Sunday that doctors have begun taking her mother out of a medically induced coma she's been in since Thursday

E! Fashion Police host Joan Rivers could be out of coma soon but doctors treating her say she could suffer a permanent brain damage or be in a wheelchair.

Her daughter, Melissa Rivers announced on Sunday that doctors have begun taking her mother out of a medically induced coma. She added that their family is "keeping our fingers crossed" as she slowly wakes up.

Joan has been in coma since Thursday [Aug. 28] and reports say taking her out of it might talk until Tuedsay [Sept. 02].

A source close to the family told New York Daily News, "There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair."We ealier reported that the 81-year-old TV host suffered a cardiac arrest after her breathing stopped during a vocal cord procedure at a Manhattan clinic last week.
