The death of Eunice Elisha Olawale has caused a lot of sympathy and outrage at the rate of intolerance by Muslims for Christians living in the northern part of Nigeria.
This declaration was made by Babachir David Lawal, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, who represented Buhari at the burial of Olawale.
Stating the resolve of the government, Lawal said, “As a government, we want to inform you that all the perpetrators of this act will not go free but will be brought to book.”
“All Nigerians should be safe and free to practice their religion anywhere. Government’s resolve is to fish out the perpetrators.”
“We pray to God not only to forgive them, but pray that the perpetrators seek for repentance. On behalf of the President and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, may God console you.”
The late preacher was buried on Saturday, July 23, 2016, amidst tears.
