InDelta 4 suspected cultists remanded in prison for murder

Four suspects have been remanded in jail on five count charges of alleged murder, unlawful possession of firearms, cultism amongst others.

A suspected runaway cultist and three others have been remanded in jail by a Magistrate court sitting in Aladja community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State for alleged murder, amongst other things.

Jude Okakotu alleged to be a member of IJB Confraternity was remanded by Senior Magistrate on Grade I, Magistrate .J.E. Uyokpeyi alongside three others identified as, Otive Aforhon, Brume Monday and Tega Morgan who are suspected members of Vikings, Dominion and Blue Spies, on Thursday, September 22.

The suspects are facing five count charges bordering on alleged murder, unlawful possession of firearms, cultism, disturbing public peace as well as constituting a public nuisance.

Daily Post reports that the suspected cultists are allegedly responsible for the murder of one Ikechukwu Obi who was killed during a battle for territorial supremacy between two rival cult groups, Dominion and Vikings in Aladja Community.

During the rival cult clash, the deceased was reportedly shot dead by the police and Aladja Community Vigilante on Sunday, September 4 before the trio were arrested on Monday, September 5 while others including Jude Okakotu fled the vicinity.

Okakotu was later arrested and arraigned in court by Police Prosecutor, Serg. Money-Girl Omoniyi.

The cult groups are reported to have taken advantage of the crisis existing between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh Communities to terrorise, maim and rob the residents.
