News reports have revealed the release of a businessman based in Lagos State who had been kidnapped in November, 2015, following the payment of a $2m ransom fee.

The businessman identified as Elias Ukachukwu, had been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Festac area of Lagos State.

The news reports further revealed that the kidnappers had demanded an extra $1 million from his family, following an initial demand and payment for $1 million, with the kidnappers reportedly complaining that the relatives had been rude to them.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Dolapo Badmos, had confirmed Ukachukwu’s release to Vanguard

The residents of Festac Town and its environs are reported to be living in fear, following the increasing cases of kidnappings within and around the area.
