In Abuja EFCC arraigns man before court over fraud and criminal conspiracy

The young man identified as Daniel Onyebuchi Anyika was arraigned before Justice C.S Oriji of the FCT High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja on Tuesday, February 16.

News reports reveal the arraignment of a young man by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a six-count charge of obtaining by false pretence, criminal conspiracy and forgery.

The young man identified as Daniel Onyebuchi Anyika was arraigned before Justice C.S Oriji of the FCT High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja on Tuesday, February 16.

The reports reveal that Anyika, allegedly conspired with an accomplice identified as Mohammed Lawal in August, 2008 to steal a title document for a parcel of land situated at Plot No.921, Katampe B07, Abuja which reportedly belongs to their victim, Alhaji Lawal Umar Aminu.

Mr Anyika reportedly pled not guilty to the charges leveled against him, causing the EFCC's counsel, Samuel Okeleke, to request a trial date and that Anyika be remanded into the custody of the EFCC.

Anyika's counsel, Sigismund Agha, had made a counter appeal to have him admitted on legal grounds to bail.

Justice Oriji reportedly ordered the suspect remanded in EFCC custody, adjourning the matter to March 24, 2016.
