Power situation improving...? - Deputy Power Minister Claims

The power situation could improve in the coming days following repair works on the Kwame Nkrumah FPSO

Deputy Minister for Power John Jinapor

Deputy Minister for Power John Jinapor has announced that the power situation is gradually improving.

The deputy minister who made the announcement on his Facebook page said "We are not out of the woods yet but the system is gradually picking up."

The deputy minister's claim follows the completion of repair work on a faulty FPSO Kwame Nkrumah compressor.

The power crisis worsened a couple of weeks back due to a faulty compressor on the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah, which resulted in the halting for gas export to the onshore processing plant for power generation.

As a result, the ECG was forced to shed an average of 350MW which aggravated the power situation.

The Deputy Power Minister said the repaired compressor as of yesterday was "pumping 54mmscf."

This has increased "the volume of gas supply from the West African Gas Pipeline Company to power our Thermal Plants," he added.
