2 billion rides have been completed in a little over 5 years

This also means that Uber has been providing an average of about 5.5 million rides per day, or 230,000 every other hour.

Uber CEO, Travis Kalanick

According to Kalanick, who made the announcement via his Facebook page, it took Uber 5 years to reach its first billion rides. Six months after that, it had achieved the next billion already. Simply amazing if you ask me.

This also means that Uber has been providing an average of about 5.5 million rides per day, or 230,000 every other hour. Mind-numbing numbers.

147 Uber rides started at exactly 4:16am GMT on Saturday, June 18, 2018 resulting in an all-out tie for the two billionth Uber ride so far.

All of these two billion Uber rides have happened in 450 cities in 16 countries on five continents. The longest rides have lasted more than an hour one of which was in Jakarta, Indonesia. The shortest Uber ride of th two billion was an UberPOOL ride in Changsha, China and lasted just three minutes.

Kalanick also says the 147 drivers and riders who tied for the two billionth ride will be awarded $450 each. Not bad.
