Photos, videos, GIFs will no longer add to your character count

Twitter had announced earlier this year that it planned to cut down on the number of characters taken up by photos, videos and other media.

Social media platform, Twitter, has announced that photos, videos, and other forms of media within tweets will no longer take up 23 characters.

If you use Twitter frequently, you are probably familiar with the frustration of trying to fit your message into a tweet when photos and such have taken up some of the space.

Twitter had announced earlier this year that it planned to cut down on the number of characters taken up by photos, videos and other media. Those changes are now official.

Before now, photos and videos could take up as much as 23 characters out of your tweet, which would usually lead to the frustration of having to abbreviate your tweets or utilize terrible English to get your point across.

The company has also started to show read receipts (just like you get on WhatsApp) in its Direct Messages section and it also plans to change the way tweets are formatted, particularly in terms of when users mention other accounts.

Twitter has already announced its plans on further changes to the platform, as it continues to struggle with its growth problem. Pulse Tech will keep you updated as those are changes are confirmed.
