Telecoms giant launches CarFi device aimed at boosting Internet in traffic

The CarFi sticks launched at the 2015 Abuja Motor Fair, which is sponsored by MTN, and is the first device of its kind in Nigeria.

Telecoms giant MTN Nigeria has launched a new gadget called MTN CarFi sticks to boost pits subscribers access to the Internet in traffic.

The CarFi sticks launched at the 2015 Abuja International Motor Fair, which is sponsored by MTN, and is the first device of its kind in Nigeria.

Mr. Richard Iweanoge, GM Consumer Marketing, MTN Nigeria, while describing the device, said the device is aimed at making life much more bearable for the average Nigerian road user requiring access to the Internet.

“The MTN CarFi Stick is a wireless gadget designed to provide internet access for motor vehicles. It is a fast, reliable and easy to operate high-speed network access terminal that can be inserted into a car cigarette lighter socket, and then allows up to ten (10) portable devices to connect to a Wi-fi network while in a moving vehicle. With the device, users can surf the internet easily. MTN Nigeria is the first telecom operator to launch the device, and we will leverage it to drive innovation in the data space. MTN CarFi Stick is a unique device developed in line with our vision of leading the delivery of a bold, new digital world,” Iweanoge said, according to a report by Vanguard.

The Abuja International Motor Fair is a platform where automotive products and services are showcased.
