Tech company is working on a program that will give people access to ICT tools

It seems the idea behind the program is to provide a physical location in urban areas (for now) for people and businesses who need access to digital tools.

Microsoft Nigeria philanthropies lead, Olusola Amusan

Microsoft held its second “Microsoft Philanthropies Influencer Dinner and Impact Video Screening” on  June 15, 2017 at its Civic Towers office in Victoria Island, Lagos.

At the event, Philanthropies Lead, Microsoft Nigeria, Olusola Amusan, whilst responding to a question from one of the guests, said the tech giant is currently working on setting up a program it calls “Acceleration Labs.”

Amusa revealed this detail while responding to a guests question about how Microsoft Nigeria plans to provide low-income Nigerians living in low-income neighbourhoods (who can’t access the tools to develop important digital skills) with access to much-needed tools to develop digital skills.

It seems the idea behind the program is to provide a physical location in urban areas (for now) where people and businesses who need access to digital tools needed to develop much needed skills and take their business or themselves to the next level.

“We are working on something called Acceleration Labs and we aim to have at least on in each geopolitical zone in the country starting with Lagos,” said Amusan.

“We initially considered the most remote locations, but we discovered that even people in the urban areas do not have access to these much needed tools.”

There isn’t any other information what the program curriculum or selection process will be (it wasn’t an official announcement) but when it does get underway, be sure that Pulse Tech will bring you all the necessary details.
