NIBSS partners with Airtel Nigeria

In its latest partnership, the NIBSS has joined forces with Airtel Nigeria to further expand the reach of the BVN registration Query Service.

In recent times, the CBN has tried various policies to encourage safe and secure online banking.

The Nigerian Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) has been making moves recently to help people deal better with the entire BVN registration process, starting off with a partnership with Etisalat last week to help people check on their BVN status straight from their cell phones without having to go into a bank.

In its latest partnership, the NIBSS has joined forces with Airtel Nigeria to further expand the reach of the BVN registration Query Service.

With the new initiative, bank customers who have done their BVN registration, can obtain their BVNs at any time by dialing the USSD code *565*0# on their mobile phones.

The BVN is a Central Bank of Nigeria initiative which was launched in February 2014, is being supported by the bankers’ committee. It is aimed at protecting bank customers and strengthening the Nigerian banking system. It also promises a means of addressing safety of customers’ funds, avoid loses through compromise of personal information, and other criminal activities in the industry.
