Senate confirms ministerial nominees to replace Ocholi, Mohammed

Ocheni and Hassan are expected to serve as replacements for Late James Ocholi and Amina Mohammed, former Minister for Environment

Both nominees were screened and confirmed by the Senate on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.

Responding to questions from Senators, Ocheni supported the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy of the Federal Government.

He however opposed the N56,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers due to Nigeria's economic recession

President Muhammadu Buhari had forwarded the names of both nominees to the Senate for confirmation on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.

Ocheni and Hassan are expected to serve as replacements for Late James Ocholi and Amina Mohammed, former Minister for Environment, who is the current United Nations Deputy Secretary- General.

Recall that Ocholi died in a road crash on 6 March 2016.

Mohammed was recently appointed as Deputy General Secretary of the United Nations on Friday, April 28, 2017.
