GEJ’s ex-media aide still in EFCC custody

Abati allegedly collected N50m from Sambo Dasuki, who is currently standing trial for diversion of funds.

 

Abati was granted bail by the EFCC on Friday, October 28. 2016, and was required to submit his International Passport and also produce a surety who is a Level 16 civil servant, according to Vanguard.

He was arrested by operatives of the anti-graft agency on Monday, October 24, 2016.

According to Premium Times, the former presidential spokesman has not been able to meet the anti-graft agency’s bail condition.

Reports also revealed that an EFCC source said “He will be released when he meets his bail conditions.”

Abati was accused of collecting of N50m from the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.

In his response, the presidential aide told the EFCC that he disbursed the funds to some media practitioners.

The N50m which Abati collected has been linked to the money which was meant for the purchase of arms for the Army, that Dasuki diverted.
