The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claimed that their main rival All Progressive Congress (APC) is collecting permanent voters’ cards under the pretence of conducting a membership registration in Rivers State.

The PDP Chairman of the state, Mr Felix Obuah, made this known in a statement by Jerry Needam, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

PDP accused APC of buying PVCs for N5,000 (Five Thousand Naira) per card and in some cases, using force to dispossess electorates of their PVC.

PDP also claimed that the unlawful act has been confirmed in the Ogoni, Onelga, Port Harcourt, Obio-Akpor, Etche, Kalabari, Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Opobo/Nkoro, Andoni, Oyigbo Local governments Areas of the state.

“We are also made to believe that the act of buying PVCs with such amount is an exposition of the APC taking undue advantage of the poverty and the hard economic situation that has ravaged the nation following the insensitivity and apparently lack of vision and focus by the APC administration under President Buhari,” the statement disclosed.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) subsequently advised voters in Rivers State to guard their PVC jealously and refrain from selling it to members of the APC.

“While calling on Rivers people to stop releasing their PVCs to fraudulent members and agents of the APC, no matter the persuasion, inducement, intimidation and threat, the PDP urges the various community leaders to check the trend and not to allow their communities to be used in perpetrating electoral fraud by the APC."
