The Royal Traditional Council of Ile-Ife has denied reports that paramount ruler, Ooni of Ife is dead.

Oba Okunade Sijuwade reportedly passed away at a United Kingdom hospital on Tuesday, July 28, 2015.

“Ooni is hale and hearty, he spoke via the telephone to all the chiefs few hours before we came here.”

“As I speak with you, high chiefs have not heard anything of such nature. This is not the first time such rumour will be carried about our father. The same thing happened in 1982 and 2004.”

“Hence, the High Chiefs want the whole world to discountenance the news as a mere rumour which is not the first time.”

The Ooni was reportedly flown abroad in an air ambulance after he slumped on July 23.
