Jigawa LG distributes drugs to health facilities

The Malammadori Local Government Council of Jigawa State on Friday said it had distributed essential drugs to health facilities to contain the spread of measles in the area.

Alhaji Yusuf Muhammad, the Director, Water and Sanitation in the council, said this while reviewing the report of the disease surveillance committee.

Muhammad said that the drugs were distributed to Dakindo, Agin and other rural communities following reports of outbreak of the disease in those communities.

“We supplied drugs to health posts to facilitate quick response to the disease and other emergency situation,” he said.

Muhammad said that the council had sensitised communities on the need to visit hospitals and keep a clean environment.

This, he added, was part of measures adopted by the council to ensure effective control of diseases.

He said,the council had set up disease monitoring committee to enhance effective campaign against measles and other diseases.

The director urged health agencies to supply additional drugs to control the disease in the area.
