Governor further relaxes curfew in Jos-Bukuru metropolis

Lalong said that security operatives in the state remained committed to ensuring law and order.

Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau has approved further relaxation of curfew imposed on the Jos-Bukuru metropolis.

In a statement on Thursday in Jos, Lalong said that the curfew would start from midnight and end at 6a.m. daily, with effect from Thursday.

“Having considered further the steady improvement in security within Jos-Bukuru metropolis since the imposition of a dusk-to-dawn curfew, the governor has approved a further relaxation of the curfew.

“This will take effect from Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017,” he said in the statement signed by the state Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr Emmanuel Nanle.

The governor thanked all law-abiding citizens and stakeholders in the peace process in the metropolis.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state government had imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in metropolis following the Sept. 14 skirmishes that resulted in the death of two persons.

The curfew is to forestall breakdown of law and order.

The government on Sunday reviewed the curfew downward to start from 10p.m. and end at 6a.m daily.

He called on all communities to sustain vigilance and intensify policing.

According to him, intensively patrol and policing in areas of concern within the metropolis are being would sustained.
