Retired Air Vice-Marshal Chris Chukwu, who is the founder of the foundation announced this wonderful scheme to give the local community another reason to celebrate Christmas this year.

This announcement was made during the inauguration of the Nenwe Health Scheme. The founder is indigenous to the community said that the announcement will benefit to the widows who have been suffering for a long time due to different hardships associated with the community.

Nenwe has 27 villages and there are no fewer than 3,000 widows living in all those villages. He said, “We embarked on a re-verification exercise to have an authentic data of widows in the community and the actual numbers we will be sponsoring. At the end of the exercise, 2,000 windows were captured and we are making a commitment to sponsor them in 2016 and beyond as far as our finances can go.”

He said happily that the foundation had already deposited N2.5 million out of the proposed N7.2 million required to fund the scheme every year. He also appealed to the managers of the scheme to review the registration fees for the beneficiaries so that more people can avail the program.

“We have deposited N2.5 million in the accounts of Nenwe Community Mutual Health Association to ensure that we start on a solid footing. The registration fees of a beneficiary per annum is much low and we urge the managers to take another look at it.

The coordinators of the scheme have however expressed regret that most people in the rural communities are yet to appreciate the importance of the scheme.
