FG declares Thursday, October 1, public holiday

This was disclosed on Monday, September 28, by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, via a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press, Yusuf Isiaka.

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, October 1, 2015, as a public holiday in commemoration of Nigeria’s Independence Day.

This was disclosed on Monday, September 28, by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, via a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press, Yusuf Isiaka.

Nigeria gained independence on October 1, 1960, 55 years ago.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved only N70 million for the Independence Day celebrations.

Buhari is said to have approved the meagre sum due to the economic situation in the country.
