Fulani herdsmen kill 30 over stolen cows

The herdsmen were said to have launched the attack on Vat and Zakupang in the early hours of Monday, May 4, 2015.

About 30 people are said to have died in Plateau State after an attack by Fulani herdsmen on two villages in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.

The trouble was said to have been caused by the theft of 400 of their cows belonging to the herdsmen from the Jos East area of the state.

The stolen cows were then reportedly taken to Barkin Ladi leading to the attack by the herdsmen.

The incident has been confirmed by the Chairman of Barkin Ladi LGA, Emmanuel Lomang, who said that 17 people were killed in Vat while another 13 were killed in Zakupang.

The attack was also confirmed by the spokesman for the Special Task Force, Ikedichi Iweha who said that most of the cows had been returned to their owners.
