The prosecutor, Sgt. Babaji Ishaku, told the court that the accused on Jan. 29 at 9.a.m. at Oduso Compound in Akesan area of Lagos, assaulted one Insp Balogun John by hitting him on the head with bottles, sticks and stones.

Two persons, Dada Waliu and Kazeem Joke, who allegedly hit a police inspector with bottles on the head were on Thursday arraigned in an Ejigbo Senior Magistrates' Court in Lagos.

The accused were arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on felony, resistance of arrest and assault.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Babaji Ishaku, told the court that the accused on Jan. 29 at 9.a.m. at Oduso Compound in Akesan area of Lagos, assaulted one Insp Balogun John by hitting him on the head with bottles, sticks and stones.

The prosecutor added that the accused persons caused injuries on the head of the police officer as a result of the alleged assault.

He said that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 409, 172(b) and 171 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, 2011.The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The magistrate, Mrs J.O Adeyemi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000.

He also said that the accused must present two sureties whose addresses must be verified.

Adeyemi adjourned the case till Feb. 29, for mention.
