Lawmaker kidnapped at gunpoint

The gunmen were said to have whisked the lawmaker away from his residence at Kofare in Yola.

The Police said it has begun investigations on the kidnap.

A member of the Adamawa House of Assembly, Alhaji Adamu Usman, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Yola, NAN reports.

The gunmen were said to have whisked the lawmaker away from his residence at Kofare  in Yola at midnight on Friday, May 15.

The Adamawa Police Command's Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar confirmed the incident.

Usman is one of the only two members of Adamawa Assembly who won their re-election to the house for a second term after defecting from PDP to APC in the just-concluded general elections.

His kidnap makes it the third recorded in the state within six months.

Alhaji Sani Ribadu, a brother to Malam Nuhu Ribadu and Wilson Gundiri, a brother to Engr Markus Gundiri were earlier kidnapped but later released.

Usman is representing Toungo Counstituency in the Adamawa House of Assembly.
