Wamakko said in Sokoto on Wednesday night during an interactive session with journalists, that the National Assembly would not work against anything that would be beneficial to Nigerians.

According to him, the assembly is an amalgam of Nigerians, with diverse backgrounds and statuses, as such will strive to push for Nigeria’s recovery.

“We will continue to support the president to take Nigeria to greater heights, as well as ensure the improvement of the living standard of Nigerians.

“We are representing all Nigerians, and we will continue to do this diligently.

“National Assembly will not work against anything that will better the situation in Nigeria and for all Nigerians.

“As lawmakers, we are closer to the people in the grassroots and all our local communities.

“We know the feelings of the generality of Nigerians and we will work tirelessly, to take Nigeria out of the woods,” Wamakko said.

The senator stressed that the essence of the separation of powers was to ensure checks and balances, not to hinder progress.

The former Sokoto state governor described the National Assembly as an indispensable symbol of democracy.

“We are also too concerned with the current happenings in the country, all of us as Nigerians must, however, rededicate ourselves, make sacrifices and come together to ensure that Nigeria is back to her sound footing.”
