Troops arrest top terrorist commander

According to the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, Zauro was arrested at Sabon Gari, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno state.

Usman said “Operation Lafia Dole’’ with assistance of Vigilantes on routine checks, identified and arrested Mr Mohammed Zauro, at Sabon Gari, Damboa Local Government Area, Borno.

“On Tuesday,Aug. 2, at about 8.30 a.m., Preliminary investigation shows that the suspected terrorist kingpin was arrested as he was trying to flee to Birnin Kebbi, from Sambisa forest.

“The troops recovered a Gionee cell phone and a fake SAIE/JIBWIS identification card to perfect his escape and the sum of N7, 900.”

Reports of Boko Haram’s link to ISIS might have been confirmed following its announcement of a new leader for the Nigerian terror group.

The undefinedof a new Boko Haram leader, saying it is irrelevant to the military's operation in the north east.
