The girls were reportedly kidnapped during an invasion by the terrorists on Wednesday, December 3.
The abduction was confirmed to Sahara Reporters by a resident, Daniel Ibrahim.
“They abducted more than 20 girls from our town and killed many people, mostly old men and women,” Ibrahim said.
“They burnt almost half of the town before they left. Those of us who were lucky fled, but they massacred aged ones and younger men they could catch,” he added.
Ibrahim also reportedly stated that Boko Haram had been making attempts to capture Lassa since last month but had been continuously repelled by local fighters.
He also said that Boko Haram had succeeded in capturing the town after residents’ pleas for the military to send more troops fell on deaf ears.
“That’s why the town is now in the hands of Boko Haram,” Ibrahim said.
Boko Haram kidnapped over 200 girls from Chibok, Borno in April and most of them are still in captivity.
