Army regains full control of Maiduguri, Konduga

The terrorists were repelled from both towns by troops during a January 25 attack but they took control of Monguno, which was also attacked on the same day.

The Nigerian military has regained full control of Maiduguri and Konduga in Borno State following an attack by Boko Haram.

The terrorists were repelled from both towns by troops during a January 25 attack but they took control of Monguno, which was also attacked on the same day.

“More casualties were inflicted on terrorists as troops battled fleeing ones and reinforcement at outskirts of Maiduguri and Konduga Sunday night,” the Defence Headquarters said via its Twitter handle.

“Substantial amounts of heavy weapons have been captured, as more terrorists died in the fight which lasted till early yesterday morning,” it added.

The 24-hour curfew imposed on Maiduguri has also been lifted.
