Former governor of Akwa Ibom state and Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, has denied viral media reports that he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
'I wasn't arrested' - ex-gov. says he voluntarily honoured EFCC's invitation
He alleged that between January and December 2014, the ex-governor colluded with two of his top aides to steal N108.1 billion from the state’s treasury.

According to a series of tweets from his handle, he voluntarily honoured the EFCC's invitation to answer some questions regarding a petition brought against him.
An Abuja-based lawyer Leo Ekpenyong had petitioned the EFCC and President Muhammadu Buhari, calling for the ex-governor's probe forfor looting Akwa Ibom state treasury.
